Project Right Side provides research and analysis to improve the political climate for gay and lesbian issues. Through research, we work to increase public support for the issues impacting gay and lesbian Americans from Republican elected officials, thought leaders and voters.
Founded by former Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman, the work of Project Right Side is based on the conservative philosophy that public policy ought to promote freedom for everyone, treat all American citizens equally under the law and reinforce the fundamental values like family, work, commitment, and responsibility. We believe these principals should apply without regard to a person’s race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
Project Right Side has interviewed over 17,000 Americans on questions involving how civil laws should impact gay citizens. As our name indicates, we oversample on the right side of the electorate, testing how all voters, particularly those on the right side of the spectrum, think about these questions. We use this data and our unique voice in the Republican party to promote a roadmap for policymakers who seek thoughtful dialogue and solutions to these issues.
